Holiday I Card Class is almost here!

 

  

You're invited to October's Holiday I Stamp-A-Stack Cards Class, which is the first of three Holiday Card Classes offered this year! 

 

Each Class is offered two times, once in the AM and once in the PM. 

 

We hope you can join us, it will be lots of Fun! 

 

Projects: Everyone will be creating nine beautiful keepsake cards, three designs, three of each design.  

 

All materials are included in class fee - * Please just bring your Snail Adhesive to class. Adhesive will be available for purchase as well.

Paws With A Cause Scrapbooking Event in Staten Island, New York

Have you ever heard of Paws With a Cause?  I had not until my good friend (BFF) Lori, told me about it.  Her son Daniel is Autistic. 

I met Daniel once earlier this year, when I was doing a Stampin' Up! workshop in Staten Island, at her home with her friends.  He is so sweet and wonderful.

 I am not a stranger to Autism.  My dear nephew Anthony who just turned 17 and also lives in Staten Island, NY is Autistic and my bestfriend who lives in Vermont, Erika has a son who is Autistic as well.

These children and young adults are the sweeties, kindest soles! They live the life of a child forever. 

The ranges of Autism varies quite a bit.

As for Daniel, he does not speak and has many issues.  So being able to have an Assisted Dog would help him considerable, but they cost $10,000.

 Lori, Daniels' Mom is putting together a FUN Scrapbook Crop to help raise money towards this very important cause.

I will be helping raise money by offering fun Make It Take It's at this event and selling Scrapbook Pages I've made already as well as donating stamping supplies thanks to the Stampin' Up! as well.

I asked Lori if she could write up a short story about Daniel for me that I could share with you.

She sent it to me about 30 minutes later.  She is such an awesome patient, caring and loving Mom and friend! She would do anything for her family and friends.

 The beautiful and touching short story she wrote is below.

A Boy named Daniel...

 

Daniel Patrick was born in Staten Island, New York on July 28^th, 1999. It was the best day of my life. I had tried to get pregnant for 15 years and had given up all hope but then found out I was pregnant at the age of 36.

He was my miracle baby. Daniel was diagnosed with PDD at 15 months of age and then autism at the age of three. He does not speak but his eyes show everything that you need to know. He is the most loving and affectionate child you could meet.  He lives in a world where hatred and prejudice don't exist.

Daniel had the pleasure of receiving dog therapy in school for two years and for a short period of time at home. He enjoyed the time with his canine friends. They were his companions for playing ball and taking a walk. It also taught him the responsibility of learning how to take care of a pet while grooming and feeding them.

Since this time we have applied to several companies for a therapy dog with no success. We have hit a few bumps in the road due to age restrictions and monetary issues until Paws with a Cause accepted our application for a Social Support Dog. We have to raise $10,000 which is the amount of money it takes to train the dog.

Our home is open and ready for a our new addition and when he/she is delivered we want to invite everyone who has contributed in any way to our home for an open house so that that they can see Daniel and his new best friend!

I understand the majority of people reading this live in New Jersey, but Staten Island, New York is not far.  It's only about a 40 min ride.  We could car pool  or we could meet at my home and you could follow me.You do not have to be a Scrapbooker to attend.  You can bring Holiday cards to make, knit or enjoy doing any craft you are currently working on. The information about the Event is below.

Halloween Cards using the Halloween Bingo Stamp Set

 I took out my NEW Stampin' Up! stamp set called Halloween Bingo to create card for my October classes and had so much fun!

Below are two cards and a place setting card I came up with!  The NEW 1" Square Punch and NEW Postage Punch works great with the Halloween Bingo stamp set!

Of course I had to add Googlie Eyes to the first card, unfortunately not sold by Stampin'Up!

Everything else used on the cards below were made using exclusive Stampin' Up! products.

 

The card below, I made, matchie matchie... If you look at the Designer Series Paper and the images I chose, they match!  The Spider Web, Bat and Ghost in that order:)

American Cancer Society Relay For Life in Ocean Monmouth County New Jersey Area

Hello and thank you for visiting my blog today!

I would like to invite all local residence to attend this great cause below!  A few years ago I had a wonderful down line member who passed away from Brain Cancer while I was away at the Stampin' Up! Convention.  I was so heart broken to find that out when I called her when I got back to share what an awesome time I had and hoped she would be able to attend the following year's convention.

I have had too many friends pass from Cancer and some friends who ARE SURVIVORS!!!! Sadly,  many who are reading this can relate to either or both statements above.

My dear friend (BFF) Peggy puts together wonderful and fun events to help raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society.  She is doing a great job in Brick, New Jersey! Thank you for ALL you do fearlessly, patiently and lovingly Peggy!

Peggy was telling me all about this great event called Quarter Auction, it sound like so much fun, while raising money for an important cause.   

I'm sure you are well aware, if you can not attend this wonderful event, you can always donate to your local American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Raquel & Anthony's Baby (Rattles) Shower Favors

Hi Everyone!

I really enjoyed creating 55 Baby Rattles as favors for my nephew Anthony and his wife Raquel. The favors are headed to Florida this week without me, unfortunately...

I did not have the time to decorate a box for them, but I really love the one I found.  It's Precious, Huggable and Adorable, don't you think?

  

Here's a look inside to see how I wrapped them for their journey from New Jersey to Florida.

 

 

Here is a better photo of what the adorable rattles.  I used our Stampin' Up! Circle Treat Cups, as well as My Digital Studio and a Decorative Punch.

 

My first Favor idea I made for them was a diaper below, but they are having a girl, not a boy, so I decided to make Rattles instead:) It's more lady like:)

Support Our Troops with Cards during the Holiday Season!

I can't think of a more rewarding group of people then our Armed Forces to make Christmas Cards for!

Together, Liza at Scrapbook Memories in Beachwood and I are putting together a Special Evening for you to come by and show your support by making Holiday Cards for our Troops in harms way.

Have you ever had Physical Therapy?

I'm currently going for both feet because I have Plantar Fasciitis and a heal spur on my left foot.  (ouch) It's hard to concentrate when you are in pain.  I'm not a stranger to pain, from having FMS and TMJ, but when you have foot pain - every time you stand, it hurts.  Even as I sit writing this, my heals are talking to me, I'm sore, I'm sore.... and I'm telling them, Be quite, I have work to do:)

I've been just about keeping up with my classes and clubs, but it seems like my feet were the last straw. I'm sure you can relate.  You have alot on your plate, but one more thing and BUST!

Crafts have always helped me to get my mind off of my pain, that is why I enjoy being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. I really don't know what I'ld do if I couldn't teach and continue to meet special clients/friends. Some days working in my office helps get my mind off things and other days not so much:)

I wanted to thank the wonderful staff at AccuCare Physical Therapy in Brick, New Jersey!  This group of Physical Therapists and assistants are the best by far! When I'm there (3 x's a week) I am in awe how all of these people work seamlessly, like a well oiled machine.  No one bumping into each other, everything getting done, nice and clean, always smiles and kind words. Mary at the front desk, greets you and helps you with your appointments, what a positive nice lady!

If you live in the Ocean - Monmouth County area and need or know someone who needs Physical Therapy, I hope you will check out AccCare Physical Therapy!

I honestly can't say I have a favorite PT because they are all great, and they may read this.  Ha ha ha But I am so humbled and grateful for all they do for me at each visit!

So as a small thank you, on my 22nd visit (today) I made a Veggie and Fruit Platter.  It was so much fun shopping, cutting everything up, placing them just right on the platters... chasing my husband away, honey that is NOT our food!  This is your food!  Poor guy!  Ha ha ha...

BUT wait, something was missing...  CREATIVITY, Lois' style!  And I can't have that. What can I do!?

I decided create Thank you tooth picks.   

 
 

I love my punches!  I uses various exclusive Stampin' Up! cardstock and the 2-3/4" Scallop Circle, 1-3/4" & 1-3/8 Circle Punch, Word Window & Modern Decorative Punch. The 'Thanks stamp' is from the Thank you Kindly stamp set stamped in a Basic Basic Black Ink Pad.

I had to pierce (make small holes) the Scallop circles using the Paper Piercing Tool & Mat. The Snail adhesive and glue dots held it together and wala!

 

 

I made one (well two) special tooth picks for Nicole because yesterday she found out if she's having a girl or boy.  So of course I had to decorate a tooth pick for a boy and a girl.  I could have called the office to find out so I only had to make one, but it was more fun, waiting to hear it from Nicole and get my hug! (wink)

 

Drum roll please.......  As you can see above, to the left is blue for a boy and the right is pink for girl.  

Nicole got the PINK one!!!  Woo Hoo!!!  She's having a Girl, which is due right before Valentine's Day!

Boys drool and girls rule!!!

Making these little decorations really helped me! A little time crunch to complete them before my podiatrist appt this morning at 9:45 AM and before leaving for my PT at 11:20 AM.  But I did it with a whole 5 mins to spare!  Woo hoo...

Have you ever used two 2-3/8" Scallop Circles to make a Flower?

Well, if you haven't check out the flower on the card below.  This is one of the cards we are making this morning at our Stampin' Up! Card Making Class at the Renaissance in Manchester, New Jersey!

It is simple but beautiful, don't you think? I really try to WOW these ladies.  Many of them have been stamping for years, so I like to show a new technique they have never seen every once in a while:)

You will find a few of the card details below: 

The Designer Series Paper used on the flower is called Well Worn item # 122359 found on page 185 in the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book.

The punch I used is NEW and it's so beautiful. It's called Lace Ribbon Border item # 122362 found on page 211, also in the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book.

The words 'Thinking of You" is from the Curly Cute Stamp Set found on page 168, and yes from in the current Idea Book:) The font in all of the words in this stamp set are wonderful to fill in a nice size space on your card, like it did below.
